It depends on what kind of fish and plants you have. Chelated Iron EDTA could be toxic to some plants and you might want to use Chelated Iron DTPA.

Even though Chelated Iron DTPA is slightly more expensive but it is better suited for most fish and plants and it is also available for plants at a wider range of pH levels compared to Chelated Iron EDTA.

2. How do I apply Chelated Iron EDTA to a yard tree? My tree's leaves are turning yellow.

We recommend applying through a foliar application and the recommended rate is 2 pounds per 100 gallons of water or 2 tablespoons per 1 gallon of water.

 

3. Is it safe to apply Chelated Iron EDTA 6-0-0 to a fruit bearing trees specifically citrus trees? If so, how and when do I apply? Should I add a surfactant?

Yes, it is absolutely safe to apply it to fruit trees. We recommend applying 1 - 2 lbs. per 100 gallons of cover and spray the leaves any time except during bloom (1-2 tablespoons per 1 gallon of water).

4. How many grams of Chelated Iron EDTA is in 1 teaspoon?

1 teaspoon of Chelated Iron EDTA 6-0-0 weighs about 5-6 grams.

 

5. Could I make Chelated Iron EDTA 6-0-0 into a solution by dissolving it in water? Also, can I use this solution to kill weeds?

Yes, you could make an Iron Solution but it won't be the most efficient way to kill weeds and I recommend using Urea 46-0-0 to make a solution to kill weeds.

 

6. Can I mix Chelated Iron EDTA in water and spray it on pin oak foliage?

Yes, we recommend applying it as a foliar application since it's the most efficient way of fertilizing plants.

 

7. What is the application rate of Chelated Iron EDTA for landscape garden?

Below are the application rates for soil and foliar:

Soil Application:

3/4 pounds / 1000 sq.ft.

Foliar Application:

4 oz / 1000 sq.ft.

 

8. Can Chelated Iron EDTA be used for hydroponic and aquaponics?

Yes, it could be used in both hydroponic and aquaponic systems.

However, depending on what kind of fish you have in your aquaponic system you need to be careful since Chelate Iron EDTA could be toxic to some fish and we recommend using Chelated Iron DTPA to avoid any harm to fish.

 

9. Is Chelated Iron EDTA only for hydroponics? My outdoor raised bed vegetable garden is showing all signs of being an Iron deficiency and I would you to apply Chelated Iron EDTA to fix Iron deficiency.

No, this is not only for hydroponics and it could be applied to your outdoor vegetable garden. You could apply it to the soil, dissolve it in water and apply the solution to your plants or apply the solution as a foliar application.

 

10. What pH range does Chelate Iron EDTA work at?

Chelated Iron EDTA is available for plants between 1.5 to 6.4.

 

11. How much Chelated Iron should I use for soil drench for young maple trees?

We recommend using 1-2 tablespoons per gallon of water. However, you need to keep in mind that Chelated Iron EDTA is not available for plants in alkaline soils and if your soil is alkaline then you need to use Chelated Iron DTPA or EDDHA. 

 

12. How do I apply Chelated Iron EDTA to the tree? By sprayer or watered down and poured around the base or drip line.

Either way would work. Chelated Iron could be applied as a foliar application or dissolved in water and applied to the soil.

 

13. What is the mixing ratio of Chelated Iron EDTA per gallon and how many sqft per gallon for lawns?

 The application rate of Chelated Iron EDTA is 3/4 lb. per 1,000 sq. ft. or 33 lbs. per acre. You could dissolve the required amount (e.g. 3/4 lb for 1000 sq.ft.) in 1 gallon of water or more and apply the entire solution to your lawn.
